Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 cup white rice (uncooked)
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 red bell pepper, diced
2 stalks celery, diced
1 small onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
2 cups chicken or beef broth
0.5 teaspoon salt
0.5 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons chopped green onions (optional)
1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
1. In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
2. Add onion, garlic, celery, and bell peppers. Sauté until softened, about 5–7 minutes.
3. Stir in Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix to coat evenly.
4. Add rice and broth. Stir well and bring to a boil.
5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes or until rice is cooked and broth is absorbed.
6. Remove from heat, let it sit for 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork.
7. Garnish with chopped green onions and parsley if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
Use long grain white rice for the best texture; avoid short-grain or sticky rice.
For added heat, include a pinch of cayenne or a splash of hot sauce.
