Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup milk

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1/2 cup butter, melted

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

1 to 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 or 9×9 inch baking dish.

2. In a bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter.

4. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.

5. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.

6. Pour half the batter into the pan, sprinkle half the cinnamon sugar, then repeat. Swirl with a knife.

7. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

8. While cake cools slightly, make glaze by whisking powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.

9. Drizzle glaze over the warm cake and serve.

Notes

Let the cake cool 10 minutes before glazing so it doesn’t melt too much.

Try adding chopped pecans or walnuts to the swirl for crunch.
