Ingredients

1 tablespoon sesame oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 pound ground beef

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 red bell pepper, finely diced

1 carrot, shredded

2 green onions, chopped

12 butter lettuce leaves

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)


Instructions

1. Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

2. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up, until browned and fully cooked, about 6-7 minutes.

3. Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and rice vinegar. Let simmer for 2 minutes.

4. Add bell pepper and shredded carrots. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until veggies are slightly tender.

5. Stir in chopped green onions. Remove from heat and taste to adjust seasoning.

6. Spoon mixture into lettuce leaves. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crunch, add chopped water chestnuts or crushed peanuts before serving.

To make this gluten-free, use tamari instead of regular soy sauce and a gluten-free hoisin.
