Description

Crunchy, buttery, and coated in a rich golden caramel, Amish Caramel Corn is a classic homemade snack that’s impossible to resist. Perfect for cozy movie nights, edible holiday gifts, or anytime you’re craving something sweet and satisfying. This easy recipe requires simple ingredients and no candy thermometer, making it a fantastic go-to for beginner and seasoned bakers alike. Whether you’re looking for a quick dessert idea, party snack, or just something indulgent, this caramel popcorn delivers big on taste and texture.

Ingredients

12 cups popped popcorn

1 cup unsalted butter

2 cups brown sugar

0.5 cup light corn syrup

0.5 teaspoon salt

0.5 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Pop the popcorn using an air popper or on the stovetop and place it in a large bowl. Remove unpopped kernels.

2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, then stir in the brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt.

3. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it boil without stirring for 5 minutes.

4. Remove from heat and quickly stir in baking soda and vanilla extract. The mixture will foam.

5. Immediately pour the caramel over the popcorn and stir to coat evenly.

6. Spread the coated popcorn onto two parchment-lined baking sheets.

7. Bake at 250°F for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.

8. Let cool completely before breaking into pieces and storing.

Notes

Use plain popcorn to avoid clashing flavors—avoid microwave popcorn with butter.

Stir the popcorn every 15 minutes during baking to ensure even caramel coating.
